Vintage Original c1920 "Batey's Ginger Beer" Enamel Advertising Sign. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS ON THE UK SITE AND LISTED IN GB POUNDS. A wonderful original sign for Batey's ginger beer; this would have been on an outside wall and is is in remarkable condition considering its age. William Batey established his ginger beer factory around 1853 in London, the business was bought by Richard James Alabaster in 1881, who established Bateys as a limited company in 1887.The sign is in original "as found" condition, and has not been re-painted or restored. As can be seen in the pictures it has suffered the inevitable nibbles and enamel losses, mainly to the edges and around the mounting holes at the top, there are also the usual scratches and scuffs that you would associate with a sign of this age. The colour and "shadow" style lettering still have a good depth and the sign also has a good gloss, considering that the sign has spent years living outside. Any marks only adds to the character and charm of the piece! It measures 77 cm (30 1/2 inches) long and is 51 cm (20 inches) wide. We take great care to describe our items as clearly and honestly as possible, including any faults or flaws that we may see.
