Original Vintage c1930 "Dunlop The First Tyre In The World" Enamel Sign. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS ON THE UK SITE AND LISTED IN GB POUNDS. This fabulous enamel "Dunlop Stock, The First Tyre In The World" sign is in original "as found" condition and has not been repaired or restored by us. Scotsman John Boyd Dunlop was inspired by his son's tricycle. That way he developed the first air cushioning system in history, and laid the foundation for the first pneumatic tyre which he patented in 1888.

A new company was formed in 1896 called the Dunlop Pneumatic Tyre Co Ltd. The sign has the usual areas of enamel loss, mainly to the edges, however, there are three patches of enamel loss to the body of the sign. I have tried to show the condition in the photographs. The red, black and yellow colour scheme has a good depth of colour and the enamelled lettering is still vivid and clear. The bottom of the sign has "REF MS 3/2" The back of the sign has been painted at some point, to prevent rusting.

It measures 76 cm (30 inches) by 51 (20 inches). This will make a great display item, and is a wonderful addition to any automobilia collection.
