Antique Gold Shell Cameo of Greek Goddess Hebe Signed Carnesecchi. The background is carved so thin that it almost seems translucent and is a testament to the master craftsman ability of Carnesecchi. Signature is scribed very lightly - it was very difficult to photograph and one photo shows a section of this. It is also scribed 120 and what appears to be Otjk - please see photos. Mount is in good condition with no dents that I can see and the cameo is excellent.

Some photos from the front show what look to be scratches but are actually the signature on the reverse - these are not visible from the front unless lit from behind. Hebe was the daughter of Zeus and known as the cupbearer - her responsibility was to offer the Gods and Goddesses of Mount Olympus nectar and ambrosia to keep them eternal young. Her successor was Ganymede and she is therefore often referred to as Ganymeda (Gladdening Princess). The giant golden eagle (Aetos Dios) was the Zeus personal messenger and companion.

No hallmark as you expected for this type of piece and age. Dimensions: Cameo approx 54mm high x 44mm wide. Total including the mount approx 62mm high x 57mm wide.
