Jaeger LeCoultre JLC P478/C 37mm Stainless Steel Vintage Wristwatch Signed

  
A rather large watch for the era (1950s) and movement coming in at about 37mm. Watch is triple-signed (dial, movement, caseback). The dial is pale yellow with gold colored Arabic numeral and dot indices. Dial appears to be original with only minimal patina (mostly around the "3" marker). Arkers retain a lot of their original color and only lightly tarnished. Hour and minute hands are lozenge shaped and have tarnished. The case is tarnished and could use a polish.

Crown has lost some plating. Movement has previously been serviced.

Timegrapher shows that it runs 20-30 sec/day fast and the beat is clean. Regulator lever on the movement has some light rust.

A few of the screws on the balance bridge (and adjacent) also have some light rust. Overall the movement is clean. IMPORTANT NOTE : This caliber movement (the P478) has a center wheel pinion friction spring that keeps the sweep second pinion under tension, over time the spring gets weak and sometimes the second hand can appear to stop or skip (usually not noticeable), while the watch is still working fine and the minute and hour hands move correctly. Replacement of this spring for a new old stock may help.
