Vintage Chronograph with 2 Dials Beltane & Norstel Signed Landeron 48 Working
This is a manual movement manufactured in the 1950's that needs to be wound up for the watch to work. It is not an automatic watch nor a quartz watch (no battery needed). This vintage chronograph comes with 2 dials. Dial - in poor condition (but can still be restored by you). 2 a brand new Beltane dial (NOS).
This watch dates from the 1950's. Dial was replaced because it needs restoration.
The minute, hour and sweep second hands were damaged and have been replaced as well. All functions are working as they should.
The chronograph resets exactly to 0 and the watch keeps the time well. I cannot guarantee time keeping, but a watchmaker has had a look at it and adjusted it to make sure it keeps good time. It is in great condition for a 60+ years old watch! Such vintage watches are a gentle reminder that if you work hard to achieve something great, and pass it on to people who recognize your effort and respect your work, then your achievements will probably outlive you.
The new Beltane dial has been professionally fitted and the watch has been adjusted for time keeping, but it has not been serviced. The service history of this watch is unknown. The tick of this watch can be heard distinctly, it has a real presence on your wrist. I find it quite charming and unique.
The watch has a superb silver dial signed Beltane, Chronographe Suisse, Antimagnetic, 17 jewels. It is fitted with arrow style gold plated hour and minute hands, a gold plated sweep second hand. The hands are not original.It has a red continuous sweep second hand. Also has gold plated hands for the subregisters. It has 2 subregisters, one at 3 o'clock with a thirty minute register, and one at 9 o'clock. The diameter of the watch is 37.2mm without the crown.
The diameter of the dial is 33.5mm. The outer chapter ring is marked in seconds from zero to 60.
The inner chapter ring has gold plated arrow style batons spaced from 5 to 60. The case back has a small dent, visible on the pictures. The case has some signs of wear, but nothing major.
The crystal is clear and has some tiny scratches that are only noticeable if you search for them. The watch is fitted with a high quality Hirsch Buffalo strap made of brown leather. The watch is NOT waterproof nor water resistant. This is a private sale. This watch has been well taken care of and can be worn immediately for daily use (I used to go to work with it).Any defect visible on the picture but not mentioned in the description will be considered as described. I have no tolerance for time wasters. Note you will need to care for the watch to the highest level and it will require service at some point in time.
Most of the people who built this watch are either retired or have passed away. I have worn this watch with pride and respect. This is not a toy. Please take care of this watch as well as I did.
