Original vintage 2 sided Gulf porcelain Dealer sign with very rare sign ring

  

Original 2 sided porcelain Gulf sign with original sign ring ready for hanging. Sign alone is 66 diameter, 6' with sign ring hanger. This appears to be the first generation design for Gulf signs with the striped shading under the letters.

Normal small rust spots have all been treated with rust converter to prevent any further corrosion. Sign has been treated with 2 coats of automotive acrylic to help show the color and new rubber liner on sign edging. One side is more faded than the other.

There is a small bend at the base where the worst of the rust spots is as shown in photos. Overall in good condition for its age, about 98% rust free. The sign ring was corroded and has been wire wheeled, coated with rust converter, 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of a close match Gulf Blue.

Ready to hang, pitting under the paint shows originality. These are getting harder to find in decent condition. This sign came from a small auto parts store / repair shop in the middle of Alabama that closed in the 1970's. The shop had been open since the 1920's.
